What is Hemp?
Hemp comes from the Cannabis family and it is one of many different strains in this family. Hemp must contain less than 0.3% THC for it to be categorised as Hemp. That is why we source our CBD Oil from the Hemp plant as the THC compound is so low that it wont show up on any Drug tests.
The Hemp plant creates Cannabinoids, also known as Phytocannabinoids. Our bodies also create Cannabinoids known as Endocannabinoids. The difference between the two is one is produced by plants, and the other is produced in our bodies. In fact, the Endocannabinoid System in our bodies was discovered after researching the Hemp plant and how it worked.
How does it work?
All humans and animals except for insects have an Endocannabinoid System. The ECS plays a role in regulating sleep, emotions, mood, appetite, hormones, memory, metabolism, muscle formation, immune system responses, and motor control to name a few. The ECS is made up of endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes.
There are 2 main Endocannabinoids in our system; Anandamide and 2-AG and they keep our internal functions running smoothly. Our bodies produce these when our receptors signal that action needs to be taken. We have 2 receptors; CB1 found in the central nervous system and CB2 found in the peripheral nervous system. We feel pain, our CB1 receptors signal and our ECS kicks in and produced Anandamide or 2-AG to help. Bringing balance and stability to our systems is the primary role of the ECS.
The Phytocannabinoids that are made by Hemp replicate the Endocannabinoid system almost perfectly. When we use CBD Oil which is one of the Cannabinoids made by Hemp we are giving our bodies the same Cannabinoids that our bodies would naturally make. This is why the Hemp plant has been so successful in helping many of our problems.
